Premium Fraser fir

Deliveries for these trees are from 1st Dec -

Our premium quality Fraser Fir is a great needle retainer , narrower shaped tree with flat, shiny deep green needles. The foliage is dense and soft .

The leaders (top) and branches on Fraser Firs can sometimes be slightly quirky which adds to the character of the tree. The Fraser Fir is generally a narrow tree making it ideal where space is at a premium, and often, has a wonderful Christmassy fragrance.

The Fraser Fir is quite a fast and irregular growing tree so, just as we go to the hairdresser regularly, the sides of the trees have to be shorn every year. This does leave ‘cut’ marks, but the growers do try not to shear any more than they have to – just enough to keep the shape of the tree.

  • Prepare the trunk

This is important to a great long lasting tree. We will usually make a cut for you so you don’t have to, however the tree should be in water within an hour of making a fresh cut.

If the tree needs a new cut,  then just before you install your tree, saw off the bottom 1” (3cm) of the trunk.

This cut creates a fresh cut that will absorb water.

They need routine (they are like people)
Do not expose your tree to sudden changes in temperature. Trees like most people are creatures of habit and prefer steady conditions.

Keep it away from any heat sources
If possible, please position your Christmas tree away from any heat sources such as radiators and fires. Heat dries out your tree faster, so the further away from potentially damaging heat sources the better, and the fresher your tree will remain.

    Water your tree
Place your tree in plain water - not soil or sand which could slow absorption. This is best achieved by using a specially designed Christmas tree stand. Many precious hours can be wasted trying to make a Christmas tree stand up straight in an ordinary bucket using just bricks or stones! All stands are not created equal, and we strongly recommend the Cinco stands which can be used on trees up to 12ft tall.

This link will take you to a cinco 8 which is ideal for a tree up to 8ft.

    Keep on watering it!
Keep the Christmas tree stand topped up with water. Your Christmas tree may drink 2-3 pints (1-2 litres) of water per day, depending on its size and your central heating settings. This is very important as once the water level drops below the tree’s trunk, sap will re-seal the base within a few hours, preventing the tree from drinking.

Be aware that these trees are natural living things and are perishable.
